If you follow Portland Family Adventures, you’ll know that we’re a family of climbers. One of our favorite places for climbing is The Circuit Gym – currently in two locations NE Portland and SW Portland. Our 10 year old son Rhys is on their competitive climbing team “The Circuit Breakers.” We spend a lot of time at both gyms, and we are very excited about their newest gym (currently in construction) located in Tigard at 16255 SW Upper Boones Ferry Rd.
The Circuit Gym already provides a world-class climbing experience for the greater Portland area. With such an incredible facility, it’s no wonder that the kids’ climbing team (The Circuit Breakers) placed 10th at the national bouldering championships! While plenty of climbers will amaze you with their strength, athleticism, and dexterity, don’t be afraid to give bouldering a try!
It’s a phenomenal workout, and most patrons are beginners and intermediate climbers. Advanced climbers are always willing to help out newbies with advice! If you’re unsure about how to get started, check-out one of their “Beginner Nights,” which are 5PM or later every Saturday evening. Or, you can just sign up for their Introduction to Bouldering classes.
Need additional inspiration? Watch this cool time lapse of the Tigard construction:
The Tigard gym will be opening this summer, and they are hosting a preview party/open house for the community on Friday, June 6th from 5PM – 10PM. There will be local beer, giveaways every half-hour, and ANNUAL gym memberships will be 25% off (just at the event)!
One thing is for certain, the new gym, which is over 19,000 square feet (33% bigger than the NE location, and 90% larger than their SW location) will get you super psyched to climb! Early previews of boulders are truly inspiring. These handmade structures will no doubt set the stage for some of the coolest route setting in the country.
